The hatchery is quite a sight to see! It is located behind Bing's home in Alameda, California. The structure is 17' x 45' and contains ten 2.5-gallon, fifteen 10-gallon, thirty-four 20-gallon, eighty-four 29-gallon, thirty-two 45-gallon, and two 65-gallon tanks. All tanks have fluorescent lighting.

With all of these tanks, there is obviously a need for a simplified filtration system. There are 6 central filters. The total capacity of the system is approximately 5,500 gallons.

The central filtration system was custom designed to minimize maintenance time. The volume of water is turned over three times per hour in each tank for the grow outs and once per hour for breeders. The entire facility utilizes an automated water change system which changes approximately 30% daily. The hatchery is heated to 84 degrees F by a gas heater. There is also an air exchanger to minimize the humidity.
